Jeg har lige oversat en tekst fra dansk til engelsk og ville da blive glad, hvis der var nogen der måske hurtigt havde lyst til at kigge den igennem for de største fejl.

The most stubborn Dutchmen – the so-called “Voortrekkers” however leaved and started the famous Great Trek towards the north in 1836 in order to live without intervention from the English. This is the heroic period in the history of the Boers, where they captured enormous territory from a numerical superior enemy. The Boers had decisive technical advantages and felt that the Lord was with them and decided their destiny. When the enemies threatened, they placed their wagons in a circle with thorny branches put into the wheels. Such a circle – a “laager” – was a fort, which the natives only rarely succeeded to defeat. The English didn’t follow at first, and in 1852-1853 Oranje and Transvaal got approved as independent republics.
The result of the conquest was that the natives had to take duty by the white, and that the old tribe society disintegrated.
In the 1870´es and the 1880´es there were found diamonds and gold in the land of the Boers, and therefore the conditions were completely changed.
The English invested big amounts in the mining, and England got bigger and bigger interest in getting control with the area; moreover they were ready to go very far to keep Kapstaden, which was one of England most important possessions because of the connections to India.
