Forskellen på Irish Cob/Tinker {{forumTopicSubject}}

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN IRISH COB AND A TINKER ?

AN IRISH COB IS ONE SINGLE DISTINCTIVE BREED
THERE IS JUST ONE SINGLE BREED STANDARD FOR IRISH COBS

A TINKER IS NOT ONE SINGLE DISTINCTIVE BREED
THERE ARE A NUMBER OF BREED STANDARDS (TYPES) FOR TINKERS

There are at least three breed standards (types) to provide for the different types of Tinkers in a Tinker stud book. Although a Tinker (Cob Type) may look the same in appearance as an Irish Cob , an animal judged to conform to the Tinker (Cob Type) breed standard, is not an actual or real EU recognized breed. Whereas, an animal judged to conform to the Irish Cob breed standard, is an actual, real recognized EU breed. The Irish Cob Society (ICS) also maintains an Irish Cob Part Bred stud book (which is totally separate to the ICS revered & sacrosanct Irish Cob stud book). Many (maybe all) of the animals in an Irish Cob Part Bred stud book could be judged to conform to one of the Tinker type breed standards. For this reason it is clear why an Irish Cob stud book should never be merged with a Tinker stud book and why it would be detrimental to the Irish Cob breed if it were ever to happen.

AN IRISH COB CAN ALWAYS BE A TINKER
BUT A TINKER CANNOT ALWAYS BE AN IRISH COB
