PEER PRESSURE:
Peer Pressure can be both positively and negatively. For example, if one is involved with a group of people that are ambitious and working to succeed, one might feel pressured to follow suit to avoid feeling excluded from the group. Sometimes the child is pressured themselves. They feel like they need to be in this group to be ”cool” or ”in”, it is the positive change. the negative is if you come in a group where stolen, smoking and taking drugs.
PARENTS iN PRiS0N:
Almost 1.5 million minor children (17 years old and younger), an Estimated 2 percent of America's kids, hate a mother or father in federal or state prison in 1999. Half of the parents in state prisons were black, about a quarter were white and a fifth were Hispanic. More than 80 percent of all parents in prison reported that their minor children lived with the other parent, but these answers differed sharply by gender. About 90 percent of fathers in state prisons said at least one of their minor children were now living with their mother, while 28 percent of mothers in prison said their child's father was the current care giver. others most often said their children’s grandparents were the care givers (53 percent), compared to 13 percent of the fathers who said their children were with grandparents. almost 60 percent of the parents in state prisons reported having used drugs in the month before their offence, and 25 percent reported a history of alcohol dependence. More than a third of the parents in state prisons committed their offence while under the influence of alcohol.
DRUG ABUSE:
The negative effects of teenage drug use is undeniable and obvious. When considering these negative effects, it is alarming to see some actual statistics on the amount of teen drug use in high schools and middle schools. Moreover, many parents felt that their teenager's use of alcohol is OK because it is a harder substance such as crack, or heroine. However, it should be noted that alcohol kills five times more teenagers than all others combined medication (usually by accident) Below are just some of the alarming statics associated with teen drug use and effects of alcohol on teenagers.
Illicit teen drug use from 2003.
*8 class - 30.3%
*10 class - 44.9%
* 12 class - 52.8%
DRUG ABUSE EFFECT:
The health effects of teen drug use can vary, depending on such factors as frequency of use, the kind of drug taken, how much is taken, how quickly it gets into the brain, what other drugs are taken at the same time, the differences in body size and chemistry, the length of time the drugs are used, and other components. Some, but certainly not all, of the most frequently used drugs and their effects will be discussed in this article.
SUiCiDE:
Every 18 minutes, somebody dies from a suicide.
Every 43 seconds, somebody attempts one.
Most teens interviewed after making a suicide attempt say that they did it because they were trying to escape from a situation that seemed impossible to deal with or to get relief from really bad thoughts or feelings. Like Ethan, they didn't want to die as much as they wanted to escape from what was going on. And at that particular moment dying seemed like the only way out.
Some people who end their lives or attempt suicide might be trying to escape feelings of rejection, hurt, or loss. Others might be angry, ashamed, or guilty about something. Some people may be worried about disappointing friends or family members. And some may feel unwanted, unloved, victimized, or like they're a burden to others.
We all feel overwhelmed by difficult emotions or situations sometimes. But most people get through it or can put their problems in perspective and find a way to carry on with determination and hope. So why does one person try suicide when another person in the same tough situation does not? What makes some people more resilient (better able to deal with life's setbacks and difficulties) than others? What makes a person unable to see another way out of a bad situation besides ending his or her life?
The answer to those questions lies in the fact that most people who commit suicide have depression.
