Hi Amy,

My name is Louise, and I’m a 13-year-old girl. I live in Aalborg and my school is Mellervangschool. At the school you can be in 0th to 9th grade. I’m at 7th grade at the moment. The school has an okay location, near to some shops, a great playground, many houses, a club for young people, some roads, etc., and it lies in the 4th biggest city in Denmark, with 121.610 inhabitants. You can come to the centre of the city in 20 minutes in a bus, and in there, there are many great shops etc.

Almost every day we come to school at 8.00 a.m. We can go home again latest 2.30 a.m., but mostly we can go home 1.40 a.m. We have normal subjects, you know, Danish, English, math, biology, physic, history, Germans, etc. We also have something called “project-subject”, where we learn to submit project with “power point”, video, plate, etc. Then we also have cooking, where we make food, and then eat it in the end of the lessons.

We have not really any important traditions, but every year before our autumn holiday, we go out, running in a forest, on the beach, or somewhere else. We also have a Christmas football and basketball tournament for the pupils in 6th to 9th grade. We also have a “subject-week” sometimes; we made a project about something, and then we present it for the teachers in the end of the week.

At the school we have some rules: You must be there in every lesson, unless you are ill, of course. Then you can’t play ball inside, and you can’t run on the corridors. At the school we can wear the clothes we want to. We don’t have any school uniforms; we just wear our own clothes.
I actually almost never have any homework – I always have time to finish it in the lessons, but there are other pupils in my grade, who have very much homework, but I haven’t. It’s very different, you see.
